Baxalta (Bax from the name of its former parent company; alta a Latin adjective meaning 'high' or 'profound') is a biopharmaceutical company founded on 1 July 2015 after its parent company, Baxter International, spun off biopharmaceutical division. The company began its operation with a revenue of $6 billion. In August 2015, Shire Plc made an unsolicited $30.6 billion stock offer for the company increasing the Baxalta share price over 16%. Baxalta investors would be set to receive 0.1687 of Shire's American Depositary Receipts for every share they hold, representing a premium of 36%, compared to the company's stock price on August 3. This deal would create the largest global biotech company focused solely on rare diseases.
A former production assistant wrote "Shire/ Baxalta is NOT the place you want to work. They care very little about your Personal life ( as told by my Supervisor), if you are a hard worker and want to move upward there is no chance. They only move the "Favorites "up. You will be expected to work 65 or more hours a week when there is a heavy work load. you will be yelled at , literally for talking, and only in Round Lake do they work off a point system ( according to Corporate) where the rules will change when they want and points will be given out like lolly pops at a candy store. There are plenty of mandatory Saturdays which you WILL work or get 2 points for. 8 points total and your fired. you are given sick days by the Company but only at Round Lake , if you use them you will get a point for being off. Doctors note doesn't mean anything. If your spouse gets sick and you have to get to the ER, you WILL get a point."

Production Associate (Current Employee) says
"Great benefits but very low wages. Management requires a 6 day work week which is mandated every week. So you're exhausted but still need to make more money elsewhere, because you never take home enough to pay all your bills."Registered Nurse (Former Employee) says
"Employees are just a number. Management micromanages and have no clue how to utilize constructive criticism. Managers divide staff and absolutely don't respect anyone accept those who concede to their ways. Awful place to work and can harm ones sense of send by all the gossip and belittling."Production Assistant (Former Employee) says

"Shire pays fairly when joining, the further bonus/merit system is opportunity driven and depends on your manager. The company is currently struggling, downsizing. If you want to join mainly for work experience it is a good project, if you want to make a career it is probably not the best place."Recruiter (Current Employee) says
"This is a good company to work at. It's a competitive work place but it pays well. There are a lot of organizational changes that have happened in the recent years."Social Media
